Sharing the Bread of Life

The day after Jesus fed the five, thousand, a large crowd tracked Him down, hoping for another free meal. They wanted a convenient provider who would cater to their immediate physical wants. But Jesus had an entirely different mission in mind:

“Then Jesus declared, ‘I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never thirst.'”

John 6:35

Bread in the ancient world was a symbol of life itself; if you had bread, you would not starve that day. But Jesus came offering something far beyond daily rations—He offered eternal life through His grace.

Yet there is a catch, isn’t there? It requires a response. We must receive the gift in belief.

And for those of us who have already accepted His gift of grace, a second question immediately follows: What will we do with it? Will we keep it tucked away like a private treasure, or will we share it?

Ambassadors don’t hoard the resources of the country they represent; they make them known. You don’t need a theological degree or a pulpit to share the Good News. It looks like offering a word of encouragement to a discouraged coworker, listening patiently to a troubled neighbor, or sharing how God has brought you through your own storms.

Who in your circle of family or friends needs to taste the goodness of the Bread of Life through your encouragement today?
