We’ve all stood at the crossroads of a difficult decision, looking intently at the pieces on the board and trying to plot our next move. When life gets complicated, some folks rush off to see a financial adviser, a public relations guru, or a marketing expert to craft a master strategy.
We want a guaranteed five-year plan that protects our comfort and secures our image, not to mention our bank balance.
The Apostle Paul looked at life’s strategy through a completely different lens:
“I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. All of us who are mature should take such a view of things.”
Philippians 3:14-15
Paul wasn’t building a corporate brand or chasing earthly prestige; he was living in light of his calling. He recognized that we have already attained something infinitely more valuable than any career milestone: a living relationship with God through Jesus Christ, an inheritance of eternal life, and the high privilege of serving as His representatives on earth.
Financial plans and practical strategies have their place, but they don’t define our lives. Life isn’t about the image we project to our neighbors; it’s about the reality of how we walk and live.
When your primary strategy is simply to follow Jesus, the complicated noise of self-promotion starts to fade away.
What is your next move today, and are you planning it around your own image or around your calling to follow Christ?
