Hagar gave this name to the Lord who spoke to her: ‘You are the God who sees me.

Genesis 16:13

Provision begins long before supply. It begins with sight — God’s attentive, compassionate awareness of His children. Hagar’s story is the first time in Scripture someone names God, and she names Him not for His power, but for His attention. She was alone, pregnant, mistreated, and running into the wilderness. Yet God found her. He spoke to her. He directed her. He promised her a future.

God meets people in crisis: Provision is not merely God giving us what we need; it is God finding us where we are. Before He provides bread, He provides presence. Before He provides direction, He provides reassurance. Before He provides strength, He provides compassion.

The fern image — translucent green, lit from behind, spores ready to release — is a perfect metaphor. God sees us with that same clarity. Nothing is hidden. Nothing is overlooked. His provision begins with His gaze.
