A new day begins fresh and new, the slate is clean, opportunity knocks; what will we do today?
Will we dredge up the leftovers from yesterday’s problems, or will we move ahead boldly in our endeavors? This is the question, the challenge of each new day.
Every day will bring a problem, that may be true, but if problems are what we’re looking for, we will surely find many. What if we looked for opportunities? The truth is, we usually find exactly what we look for, so wouldn’t it make more sense to look for opportunities? This idea applies to many things in life, so what if we sought out opportunities to do something that would be great?
A few years back, I was preparing for a long trip in the car with several other people. Before we left, I took a moment to ask God for an opportunity to share about Jesus on the car ride. What I had in mind was an opening in conversation so I could shift it over to my topic, but that isn’t what I got, for I had asked God for an opportunity. About 20 minutes into the trip, the person who was sitting next to me in the back seat suddenly turned to me and asked me about Jesus Christ directly, and the others in the car (except the driver) turned to hear the answer. They all spent the next few hours asking more and more questions, apparently eager to hear what I would say.
I asked for an opportunity and boy, did I get it! Lives were changed in that car and remain so to this day.
Today is another clean slate. Do we dare seek out something wonderful today?
