Good morning from the Heartland of America. If you take a drive out through the country right about now, you can’t help but notice how the landscape has changed. Just a few weeks ago, everything was wrapped in the deep, uniform green of midsummer. But overnight—or so it seems—the Creator breaks out His brushes. The maples turn a brilliant crimson, the oaks take on a rich bronze, and the golden sunlight stretches low across harvested fields, casting a warm, amber glow over everything it touches. You don’t have to be a master painter to appreciate a masterpiece when you see one. God displays His glory right out in the open, where anyone with eyes to see can take it in. The Psalmist captured this quiet awe when looking at the world around him:
“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge.”
Psalm 19:1–2
Notice that creation doesn’t need a loudspeaker or a neon sign to get our attention. It speaks in a quiet, steady language of color, order, and beauty. When the busyness of life and the noise of the daily news start crowding in on our peace, stepping outside into God’s autumn creation is like taking a deep, long breath of fresh air. It reminds us that there is a Master Designer holding this world together, and His handiwork is magnificent.
Have you taken a quiet moment this week to step outside, look at the beauty God has painted across your world, and simply thank Him for His glory?
