Mount Vernon: A Walk Through Time

A visit to Mount Vernon is a walk through time.  More than just an interesting historical site, it is set as it would have been back in George Washington’s time.  You don’t see the tall buildings of the big city here, rather you will see gardens and fields. and amazing views.

These people, literally on George Washington’s back porch, can see the Potomac River and the hills of Maryland beyond much as our first president and his guests would have seen them, but a visit here is much more than just his old mansion, filled with his possessions.

There are many gardens, formal 18th century English gardens, flower gardens, fruit gardens and vegetable gardens.

There are outbuildings, stables, paddocks, grazing land, slave cabins and you can even go for a walk in the woods. I have many more photos than I could possibly put into one post, and I plan on going there again in the near future for more.  They will pop up here from time-to-time and on my other blog, Photo Vistas.

It is so easy to see who they were blessed to be able to see God so clearly everywhere they looked….by the way, I am a history geek too! thanks for sharing!

If we don’t pay some attention to history, I can’t help but believe our lives are diminished. Our founding fathers of this Christian nation were remarkable, some like George here had great wealth and everything that could be seen as needed to survive. If the doomsday prophets are any where close to being accurate in some form or another there may be those that wish they had land and crops and orchards just outside their homes as He did. I doubt that they are correct however. If it takes views like this to see God’s blessing available to you, then by all means let us post more. What God makes available to us is so wonderful. I think just observing the Sunrises and Sunsets, the night sky, the rainbows and picturesque clouds, these are things that are visible from wherever we live, these should be inspiring as well. The Word is even more inspiring however. History geek I may qualify, A fan of His Story I also qualify for. Son of God I definitely qualify, Fan of others that also teach the Word accurately I also qualify for, but as a follower of this blog I am sure this does not make me unique. One of my goals is to get to see some of the beauty of all 50 states. I have done that in 42 so far. God is great. Sharing His love is a lot of fun. Blogging about the Accuracy of the Word is rewarding. There are many communities that can contribute to making our lives as disciples even more enjoyable. I am thankful to have this one available to me, I pray that the followers of my blog represent another one. We have an even greater one coming with the return of Christ. Meanwhile let us keep learning and praying and sharing of our abundance one with another. Selah.
