Why am I Still Here?

I didn’t write a post for today because the world was supposed to end… what’s the deal? I heard that it was supposed to happen at 11:11 am Eastern time this morning, and since it’s now almost 3 Eastern, I couldn’t help but notice that I’m still here.

OK, I admit it; that isn’t quite true.  The truth is that I didn’t post this morning because we had a blizzard yesterday and my internet has been down… not to mention the tons of snow that needed shoveling this morning.

With all respect to the Mayans and to those who spread doomsday theories, when this world comes to an end, you won’t know about it in advance. As I see it, the last day will start out like any other day, there won’t be any warning or anything to tip you off… and then it will happen.

When it does, there won’t be any secrets; everybody will know.  Some will be filled with joy, and others will not be, for on that day Jesus Christ will return to judge mankind.

It could happen any day, even still today… or it could be in 10,000 years.  He did not tell us when this will be, in fact He said that only the Father knows.  If that’s case, then you and I certainly don’t know.  It is for us to live our lives in such a way as to be ready if He comes right now.

In the meantime, let us all live our lives as He would have us to live, and do our parts to build His Body of believers so that when he does return, He will find us worthy of the only praise that any of us need ever hear: “Well done good and faithful servant.”
