The Anchor of Humble Hearts

We live in a culture that spends an enormous amount of energy trying to look impressive. People polish their images, broadcast their successes, fight for the spotlight, and make sure everybody knows when they’ve gotten things right. Pride loves a stage and an audience. Yet Scripture consistently points us in the exact opposite direction. True wisdom doesn’t wear a flashy neon sign; it walks quietly, hand-in-hand with humility. The wise writer of Proverbs recorded a truth that has stood the test of every generation:

“When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom.”

Proverbs 11:2

A proud person carries an exhausting burden. They always have to be right, they can never afford to make a mistake, and they are constantly defending a fragile image. Humility sets all of that heavy baggage down in the dust. When we walk in humility, we don’t have to pretend we have all the answers. We can admit when we stumble, we can learn from our mistakes, and we can look to God as our true source of worth and direction. Walking in wisdom isn’t about becoming the smartest person in the room—it’s about letting the Lord lead the way while we follow with a grateful, humble heart.

Is there an area of pride or the need to “always be right” that you can lay down at the feet of Jesus today?
