The Shepherd Who Provides Himself

The Lord is my shepherd; I lack nothing.

Psalm 23:1

The deepest provision God gives is Himself. The writer repeatedly returns to the image of God as Shepherd—providing, protecting, restoring.

Provision is not merely what God gives; it is who God is. He leads. He restores. He protects. He accompanies. He comforts. He prepares. He anoints. He follows with goodness and mercy.

God’s provision is not a single act but a whole life lived under His care. To say “I lack nothing” is not to say life is easy. It is to say the Shepherd is enough.
