It’s Time…

…to get back to normal.  The holidays are over, the Christmas decorations are put away, the house is cleaned up and now it’s time get back to reality.

I wonder, does that sound like a bad thing to you?  Oh sure, who doesn’t like a holiday?  We’ve had a good time, maybe even taken a couple of extra days off, but is “normal” really so bad?  Naw… it’s not so bad. in fact it is full of opportunity.

As we all get back to work as usual, let’s do so with hearts full of thanksgiving for the special times we’ve enjoyed recently.  Let’s be glad for the fun, the relationships and special friends and be joyous ; why not?  Let’s be ready to share with others about our joy in Jesus Christ, and our hope in following Him.  Let’s be intentional in this, so that as the new year begins in earnest we might bring the greatest joy of all to those around us; the joy that is in Christ Jesus every day of the year!

With almost a foot of fresh snow here in Indy and the temp being only three degrees above the record low and the wind chill being about 40 below zero We have a lot to be thankful for. Including that we are not in the count of over 30,000 that are without power on a day like today. But yes there is joy and thanksgiving abundantly available every day you wake up when you have the privilege and knowledge that you can share your day with the creator of our universe. will be blogging about a healthy prayer life perhaps by the end of the day. I certainly do not plan to be out and about today so I have time to write.
Maybe I try to say too much, But for now I marvel that you feel comfortable with such a short article. Keep up the good work see you round the bloggersphere.

Well thanks, and stay warm! We are looking forward to the cold blast later this evening, but won’t get to the extemes that the Midwest is dealing with. For the first time, I’m not missing it back there, but that will probably change soon!

A British study came out today and said this is the most “most depressing day of the year”. Holiday letdown, debt from shopping, back to work and school, etc. I can see that. Years ago, I once punched a hole in a door in a bout of depression (pre-Christ finding). In the future, I may actually work the holidays and be off in January. Seriously considering it now. Oh, off ’til Thursday as it is 20 below. Off the subject I know, moments like this Christ is like the person who is on the sidelines reassuring quietly as you move forward.

  4. It is a wonderful blessing when “normal” is really your best life of all. Next Monday I go back to a dream job teaching math at a community college. And you’re right . . . let’s get back to sharing Jesus in some new and winsome 2014 ways.

I enjoyed this post, Don. For me, it is time. I love the Christmas season, but I’m always ready for life to return to normal. You’re right…there’s nothing wrong with normal! 🙂

Thank you also for visiting my new blog, Write Right!
