Do we have time to look upon the creation around us with the wonder of a small child? The pair on the left are looking out across the Potomac River and seeing the hills of the far shore; an amazing sight on a good day.The figure on the right is doing the same…

The perspective of the camera gives a view of this scene with more of an emphasis on the tree in the foreground and the lawns before us.  Would we just take these all for granted?

God’s creation is amazing, to say the least; He has given us a whole world that we tend to look right past.  We are busy, we are distracted, we are in a hurry… and we are missing out.  What an awesome God we have; would that we should slow down just a bit and take notice!

I often run into Christians who have doubts or concerns.  Maybe they have doubts about various Biblical things such as ‘am I saved?’ or ‘do I really believe?’  They have concerns like, ‘I don’t understand enough’ or ‘I am not good enough.’ If only they would stop thinking for just long enough to see God all around them; His love, His creativity, His glory!

Can we take a break?  Can we just look around? Can we pause long enough to give thanks for all of this?  I have a suspicion that if we did, most of our doubts and concerns would flee the scene. It might just be that if we could learn to slow down just a bit and take notice, that we would also begin to see God at work in the lives of those around us, and if we can see that, I’ll bet we would come to see Him at work in our own lives, too.
