It’s hard to think of that day being 12 years ago, for in so many ways it seems like only yesterday. To me it seemed like a day that went by almost in slow motion from the time that the reality of what was happening set in, and then through all of the terrible images and reports.
Looking back at it now, I realize that so much has taken place since then, and are we better off? Are we more aware? Are we more secure?
I’ll leave it to others to decide…
For me, my hope does not lay in the notion that we have learned the lessons of complacency in a dangerous world, nor does it lay in the idea that people will stop murdering one another any time soon, for although I am usually an optimist, on these points I will assume that the lessons of history apply. Instead, my hope will remain in the One who offers life, forgiveness and renewal to all Mankind, the One who will see His people through any catastrophe and into the loving arms of God.
