life to the full; isn’t that what everyone wants? The question is where to find such life…
We often run here and there looking for life. We may try to find it in our vocation, or in our family, or in our various entertainments, but there is not life there. In these things, good as they may be, there is disappointment and chagrin, for life to the full is a most profound thing.
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.
John 10:10
Jesus Christ is our source for life to the full, not anything of this world, and that includes good things. It is the job of the thief to lure us from the Lord’s path, to entice us into a quest for life in the wrong places…
The truth is, that through our relationships with the Lord Jesus, all of the areas of our lives are enriched and filled with joy. It is through our relationships with Him that we will find satisfaction and fulfillment that will last not only for a lifetime, but for an eternity. Maybe this is a good day for us to reflect upon our relationship with Him; maybe this is a good day for us to focus on that relationship. Life to the full will be our rewaed.

You can have a trip or an event or concert that will leave a permanent mark on your psyche but then a letdown. A lost feeling. I once returned from a trip from San Diego (you kow what I call that place) and I had such a letdown when something went wrong a few days later, I hit a closet door and put a hole in it. Cheap wood did not help. While I keep the good memories you need a constant to keep from the lows desiring more.
I used to go to a psychologist and said I need an “even keel”. She wanted me to load up on pills and I went with it messing me up more both emotionally and physical side effects. Then when I met my now wife, I left a Catholic church that I was going nowhere and went to a Christian church. By 2006, we lost our house and moved to where I live now and attended this little country looking but solid church in Milan. Met some UCLA grad there, I wonder what happened to him???
Anyway, Christ has given me that constant that the highs of the great events and the lows of the tragic can stir the emotions. I savor the great moments for sure but afterwards I know the Lord gives me a level playing field at least. No zoloft or other head pill can do that. That’ll explain the Christmas cards from the pharmacuetical field for a few years lol…
Sorry I turned this into a blog but I wanted to I guess tesitfy and confirm your posting here.
Yes you did, and well done it is! Thanks for sharing it!
William – that UCLA guy is alive and well – blogging in DC area. I hope you never loose contact, but if you do… you will always have Christ in your heart. Amen for a relationship with Christ.
I hear that guy is a jerk anyway
I looked for a decade to fill the hole within me that couldn’t be filled with anything else but His love and peace beyond all understanding. Didn’t find Christ until my mid-50’s, but he was there waiting all the time with open arms. So joyful I walked into his embrace seven years ago. Never been the same since. He is my daily bread, the air I breathe, the living water that quenches my thirst.
Glad you found my blog; glad I found yours in return.
Thank you for sharing!
