Pure in Heart

“Blessed are the pure in heart,
   for they will see God.”

Matthew 5:8

A person who is ‘pure in heart’ is someone who is going to place a high priority on doing things the right way.  This is not a person who is always looking for the short-cut to fame and fortune, but rather a person who wants to do the right thing even when nobody is looking.  It sometimes may seem that this is an endangered species in our modern world!

By contrast, there are those who are looking to get ahead no matter what that requires, people who not only cut corners, but who don’t care who gets hurt in the process. In short, they are all about themselves at any price.

Such people are to be pitied, for they will never get what they are really looking for; peace, acceptance and love… how terrible.

The pure in heart on the other hand, will see God.  It may be that they will see God because they are looking for Him but it seems more likely to me that they will see God because there is room in their lives for Him.  Oh, to be pure  in heart and to see God!

a pure heart is a great asset in the fact that we can have joy, peace and understanding of what God has in store for His followers.

sometimes our pure heart comes flowing out and some times it needs fine tuning.

Praise God we can always work on our heart!

    great read. =-)

That is a really cool thought!!

  4. I LOVE this, Don. And I agree with Paul that “there is room in their lives for Him” is an amazing thought. When our lives are too full of ourselves, too full of our stuff, too full of our idols, too full of the world, He tries to fit in where He can. I can say from personal experience that it takes a lot of work to remove all the rocks, pebbles and sand clogging up our hearts, but the process is worth it. Because what remains is the pure Living Water of our Heavenly Father. And oh how satisfying He is.

Thanks, Don, for this post. I needed it today.
