There Are Days

Memorial 054

There are days in my life that don’t feel very victorious; how about you?

There are also days when I’m not feeling all that strong or confident in the future; maybe you have those days also.

I’ve lived life long enough to begin to recognize that there’s a pattern to those kinds of feelings and days, for you see those days are days in which I am focused on the things of this world.  OK, nothing crazy here, just ordinary things like the job, the newspaper, the bills, the kids, the leak in the roof, the weeds outside…  No, I don’t feel terribly victorious on those days.

There are other times though, times when the obvious victory causes me not even to notice that other stuff.  These are times when I actually handle the cares of this life better; I get more accomplished and do a better job of it… Maybe you’ve had this experience too.

Where, O death, is your victory?
Where, O death, is your sting?”

The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

1 Corinthians 15:55-57

What are the problems of everyday life compared to eternal life?  What are life’s discouragements compared to relationship with the one who conquered death?  What is earthly life as a “slave to the system” compared to life on this earth as a servant of the Most High God?

It’s all a matter of perspective and focus isn’t it?  Where is my focus today, is it on problems or is it on Jesus?

The Apostle Paul refers to the inner struggle we all have – the physical and spiritual. When you link that with the writer of Ecclesiastes description of the vanity of life we begin to realise that we don’t yet grasp the understanding of the real life.

Life free from the mundane and the anxieties that is why the words of Jesus in Matthew 6 : 25 – 34 help us to get our perspective

    Good thought for mediation thanks

Thanks for sharing this. I always need to keep this in mind also. It is very easy to get bogged down in the little (or big) cares of this life. In the end it will be worth it all.

Sometimes the problems are real and they have to be dealt with. Sometimes it’s dealing with “stuff” like you listed and sometimes it’s dealing with loved ones who are hurting. As you said, we should take the long view, but we also have to focus on the moment. It’s a balancing act, like so much of life is.

“In this world you SHALL HAVE tribulation.”
I’m so glad he didn’t stop there!
“But be of good cheer, for I have overcome the world.”

Such a simple and powerful truth!

  6. Love, Love, Love this photo and completely connected to the words. I love the moments of total abandonment free from the necessary ~ unnecessary~ distractions. By the way, this photo has an optical illusion effect and completely connects to the words ~ was this intended ? I have my own interpretation, as I see it. Thank you for sharing ~ amazing post. Amen :Y

Wouldnt it be wonderful Don if we could face every day with confidence and strength in The Lord? I dont know anyone who can do that without a few hiccups. And yet when we regain our focus on Him everything is brighter. !!!! Go figure. 😄😄

This is a departure from the norm; but it is great questions we all ask at times. vw

Amen brother. Perfect diagnosis and cure to be victorious. You have encouraged me today. May our Father richly bless you for your encouragement.

  10. I know what you are saying. I feel this way sometimes when I focus on my inabilities as I see them, real or imagined. I forget that my inabilities are not even a factor, God can use me for His purpose so I need to stop and refocus on God. Thanks for sharing
