Still Waters

IL714 007-PV-LR

In the cool of the evening, the Lord leads us beside still waters; He leads us to calm places.

Of course we usually don’t follow Him there… we are just too busy.

Did the kids get their homework done?

Did you take the trash out?

When’s dinner going to be ready?

Did you bring work home again?

Hurry up, my show’s going to start!

Young lady, it’s your turn to do those dishes!

Clean up your room!

Ah yes, the familiar sounds of domestic bliss…

You know, those calm waters are looking pretty good right about now. Isn’t there some way we can figure out how to fit the Lord into our lives; to follow Him to those still waters?

And… what if for just a FEW minutes, we all spent some of that “still waters relaxed time”… together?! Not preaching, not ritual, not chore… just sharing… basking in Him for a few moments, sharing the stillness, the peace, the love? How might that affect all that other “stuff”?

    Random thought… Grace… LM

We need to make the time, just as we make the time for all the other things you listed. But do we? for many, not often enough it seems.

I remember when going through Basic Training for the Army one thing they taught us was how to shut yourself down for 5-10 minutes to regain strength and perspective. And it worked wonders.
Although that was taught to be done without God in mind. How much more would be accomplished if we did that with God? Close yourself in with God and shut out the world for a few minutes. Thanks for sharing.

I miss my quiet time, hard to get these days with three little ones. Great reminder!

We only deprive ourselves when we don’t take the time to be still in our Lord’s presence. The journey is always more sweet when we are reminded in those quiet moments that He is with us in those “domestic” moments — that is the real “bliss”. Thanks Don.
