Oh No, Not Again!

Do you ever have those days when you just want to throw something against the wall?

I have.  Often it has something to do with computers!tumblr_m6oslt8AEr1qe31lco1_r3_1280

Just grabbing an object and throwing it against the wall might make you feel better for a few seconds but it won’t solve the problem, and of course if you throw your computer at the wall (or out the window) it will bring on additional problems.

Years ago I was working in a coffee shop as a cook.  It was one of those days when everything that could go wrong did go wrong.  We were short-handed, and therefore were setting records for high sales volumes!  The rush just went on and on, hour after hour; it never let up.  We started making mistakes.  Waitresses were making mistakes; tempers were frazzled.  I was about to lose my temper…

I had an inspiration: I grabbed an egg and calmly walked out of the kitchen into the back of the building to the room which housed the dumpster and threw the egg at the dumpster as hard as I could.  It exploded upon impact, and as egg shells and goop flew through the air, all my stress was gone.

As a practical matter, this technique isn’t often a viable one…

Actually, there is a way to deal with the frustrations of life that always seems to work for me; it’s called prayer.  I find that a quick session of praising God and thanking Him for all of the ways He has blessed me is an effective way to change my perspective away from irritating trivia to really awesome eternal truths.  The irritations and frustrations are really not so hard to handle after that.

Reblogged this on Loose Him and Let Him Go and commented:
Two very differents techniques for handling stress; I highly recommend the latter of the pair.
