First Light

IMG_20140107_072800_725-LR

There’s something about the first light of dawn that grabs the imagination.  The hope that a new day brings, the potential of a fresh start, the assurance of the end of the long dark night, or a reminder of that awesome day when Jesus came forth from the grave.  These possibilities and many more make the dawn special.

A new dawn is a great time to spend in God’s presence in prayer.  Giving Him thanks and praise, interceding and taking our concerns and questions to Him always makes for a better day.  For me, this is the time when I see things more clearly than before because that ‘still small voice’ is somehow easier to hear and discern. The early morning is when Jesus went to pray, and so it seems like the time for me to pray also…

There is just no better way to begin a new day that at the feet of the Master, with the rising sun as reminder of His resurrection.  Maybe that’s it, maybe that is what makes this time so great for prayer… maybe it is because I am starting my day with the reminder that just as Jesus rose from the grave, when the great Day comes, so will I.

Yes, maybe that’s it!

When you put your day in prospective and lay it at Jesus feet it gives you focus. I praise God for all my blessings and spend most of my prayer time praying for others. It is a prayer of thanksgiving more then anything and with that said, I feel focused on my goal in this life – living it for Jesus.

Meant to ask whether you took the picture. It is beautiful and works well with your choice of topic.

The pic is a real “ooooh!!” shot. Beautiful! And as a bleary eyed caffeine needing sleepyhead I can only read in wonder at your energy so early. A mumbled “morning lord” generally works well here. He understands both ways. I hope. But your words and the small still voice – oh yes.

Don’t worry Paul, it’s not your fault! On your side of the pond, you get up 5 hours earlier than I do, so I must be more rested…or something. I’m pretty sure He can follow either way!
