Guest Post

This afternoon my first ever “Guest Post” was posted on ChapLynne’s Chat, and I’d like to thank Lynne for inviting me.  I hope that it might be a blessing. I’m sure that she would appreciate it if you, my wonderful readers would pop over there and have a look at her really awesome blog… and I would also appreciate it!

Thanks Lynne, and may God continue to bless your ministry!

I could not find a “comment” button there… but listening to you, I was struck with the following, equally amazing and “counter-intuitive” thought…

It is indeed incredible that Jesus, King of Kings, Lord of Lords, promotes Oneness with Him, our “spiritual service of worship” as… taking on the role of “servant”. Submission, surrender, service to others… “foot-washing”, so to speak.

But what has struck me as even MORE incredible, even MORE mind-boggling, and has forced me to “recalculate theology” in mighty and massive ways across time… and I invite you to spend 10 minutes or hours or years with THIS… as I have had to…

Look what happens when you put those Philippians verses up along side THESE words of Jesus… in John 14:7,10-11.

“If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; from now on you know Him, and have seen Him… Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father is in Me? The words that I say to you I do not speak on My own initiative, but the Father abiding in Me does His works. 11 Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me; otherwise believe because of the works themselves.”

So… lemme get this straight… *protests my sprained brain*… JESUS… perfectly reflects the Father? His Heart? His Words? His Works? So that… um… if we’ve seen Jesus, we’ve SEEN the Father? So… the FATHER HIMSELF has a heart of tender compassion, loving, caretaking, rescue, healing, and…. and… *can’t hardly say this*… SERVANTHOOD?

    Watch THAT rock yer world!

    Grace — LM

“Nossir, HONEST!” * shakes head vehemently, with an expression of abject honesty * “but I HAVE been asked by two different pastors I’ve worked under, whether I’ve been hacking into their sermon notes weeks ahead of time, with some of the stuff I’ve written on staff for them.”

“But, Nossir.” * points at angelic and innocent face * “never done that!”

Well said! The question that will always remain unanswered in the study of “theology” as we call it is this: “When relationship becomes more important than religion, how does this change our view of not only how we see Jesus, but how He sees us?” To be sure, if we see Him the way He sees us, and we see others as He sees them, our whole world WILL be rocked! And perhaps shocked as well. And yes, the above declarative DOES includes the Father. How else could we describe One who would send His Only Begotten Son to suffer for us?
