Where do we place our trust?

CAP 013-LR

Do not put your trust in princes,
    in human beings, who cannot save.
When their spirit departs, they return to the ground;
    on that very day their plans come to nothing.
Blessed are those whose help is the God of Jacob,
    whose hope is in the Lord their God.

Psalm 146:3-5

Over the last several years, we have been bombarded with a lot of promises from politicians who want us to think that they are the answer to everything under the sun.  Are you sick? They have the answer.  Are you poor? They have a new program.  Are you feeling sad?  They have a program for that too. Don’t like the weather?  They’ll pass a law!

I don’t know about you, but I marvel at those who fall for this dumb stuff!

Politicians don’t have the answers we need for things that are truly important.  They never have and they never will.  I’m sure they mean well, but even in ancient times the people caught on to their ways and wiles.

We know where the answers to life’s questions can be found.  We know where life comes from.  We also know who is reliable, true and who will never let us down.  Our God is steadfast, real and worthy of our trust.  He will not be out after the next election, and He doesn’t forget His promises; our God is awesome!

Place your trust in Him, place your faith in Him and follow Him through life.  He never promised to make you rich in banking terms, but the riches He will provide are far greater than cash in the bank ever dreamed of being!

    Far more rewarding is remembering to store our treasures in Heaven, for there they will never pass away, just as our trust in Our Lord is Never for naught!

    Alas there are a growing number of them in this country who do fall for this stuff. Perhaps the continuing saga of how terrible this health bill is for all Americans they might get woke up, but I doubt it. The path we are on has been the downfall of governments in the past and it takes folks who are not dependent on it to see the wisdom in wanting less from government not more. I guess only God has the wisdom to allow people their freedom of will to choose and the strength to then let them live with their choices. He instructed the old covenant people to choose life that was set before them but the fickle people did not stay focused on life and stay faithful to their choosing of life. The life God makes available to us is even better and still too many settle for less, because they are unwilling to do the minimum necessary to assure they are getting the best. Wish it was not a requirement that we wait for the return, but the only way to not be aware of the passage of time is to await it in the grave and life is way too much better to contemplate the alternative. Selah.
