The Whole World is Filled with His Glory!

IMG_0793

The glory of God’s creation is all around us, whether we are walking in a deep forest, viewing majestic mountains, beholding the ocean waves crashing upon the shore or enjoying a western sunset.  We can even see His glory in the big city where so often trees thrive amidst the concrete, or summer flowers bloom gloriously in a planter box.

Just look up and see the clouds in a bright sky, or listen to the rolling of thunder, or simply just stop and notice the singing or the birds or the sound of the crickets; God’s glory is all around.

For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse.

Romans 1:20

Nowhere is God’s glory made manifest in a more striking way than when we see Him at work in the lives of Christian brothers and sisters within His church!  To see lives changed for Christ, service rendered selflessly for His Kingdom, to watch people grow in their faith and become bold ambassadors for the gospel; there is simply nothing like it!

I’ve often thought that seeing God’s hand at work in act creation would be incredible, but alas, I was not there when the universe was made.  I guess I’ll have to content myself in witnessing His Spirit at work within His people, and now that I think about it, that’s even more powerful and amazing!

The act of creation must indeed have been amazing. Momentary but amazing, Let there be light and there was light ! But we can witness God sustaining creation day by day however much man seeks to destroy it. The dust of the earth feeds its inhabitants, amazing. Apart from the interference of man what an amazing balance there is in nature. How amazing is mankind itself, sustained by God. From the orbiting planets to the smallest microcosms, God’s hand can be seen and recognised.

And you right Don, to see the New Creations in Christ Jesus and watch their growth and development is a great privilege, Oh the we had eyes to see more of it and appreciate it better. ( I wrote about this in http://jgmtheo.wordpress.com/2013/08/20/question-for-consideration/ )

Don, we will behold the new creation that is to come, the new heavens and new earth wherein dwelleth righteousness, O what a sight that will be ! with the One as a Lamb that had been slain in the midst thereof , being the light of it, and proceeding there from a river of pure water, the river of the water of life, that we may drink freely of !

Amen and Amen. Let us see thy works O God. Let us rejoice in them forevermore worshiping and adoring our great Triune God.

A thing of beauty is the world we live in, even in it’s fallen state, yes, the work the Holy Spirit does in us is truly remarkable! Im always searching for a deeper understanding of surrender. My dual nature, my faith, the true self vs the public self. Am I making too much of dying to self?

    • Don Merritt's avatar Don Merritt says:

Probably not. Dying to self seems to be a life-long journey and we may not ever achieve perfection in this life, but when we learn to keep our focus in the right place, and place ourselves in an environment and culture of His service a lot of growth will take place! So, we keep plugging away…

This is emphasized by something said in our guest preacher’s sermon Sunday. He related how he had witnessed a wonderful change in some homeless people staying at the shelter which he operates. He heard comments about how beautiful one’s daughter’s smile was, or how pretty the flowers were, that they had never noticed before. This response came as they began to see the world beyond their own problems; they’d begun dying to self.
