Living in the Light

I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” (John 8:12)

Americans seem to be seeking two things these days: Truth and leadership;  Jesus is both. He is the Truth incarnate, and He is the ultimate role model for all of us.  In the Bible, light is usually equated with truth; darkness with being lost.  In this case that pattern holds:  If we walk with Jesus, we walk in the truth, and we will never be lost again.  Notice, however that there is one slight nuance in this verse…

Jesus also says that if we follow Him we will have the ‘light of life.’  Interesting statement; the light that we have comes from the life that we have in Christ and the guidance of the Holy Spirit.  May each of us appreciate to the fullest how significant this is as we consciously turn our attention, at all times, on its guidance.  Do this, and you will never be lost in anything again!
