Any community of people needs wisdom to prosper; you just can’t get by without it when you are living around others.  Certainly, the community of believers is no exception!

Without a source of wisdom, people tend to think only of themselves; this is true in any community.  Within a family home, wisdom is needed.  In a town or city, wisdom is needed and certainly it is required within the church.

By wisdom a house is built,
    and through understanding it is established;
through knowledge its rooms are filled
    with rare and beautiful treasures.

Proverbs 24:3-4

In all of these communities, the question is not whether or not wisdom is required, but rather where that wisdom will come from.  The wisdom that comes from the mind of men has limitations, and sometimes it may lack complete knowledge of a situation or it may lack purity of motivation, but wisdom that comes from God lacks for nothing at all.

God’s wisdom is selfless, fully educated and always advances God’s purposes.  It is not unfair, discriminatory or arbitrary; it is just, merciful and good.  Where should we go, then, to seek wisdom?

We can always turn to His Word to seek the timeless wisdom of His people that has come from God Himself.  We can turn ti Him in prayer, and seek the counsel of godly and mature men and women.

How much better will all of our lives be if we always sought His wisdom instead of relying on our own!
