Remember your first love!

Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken your first love. Remember the height from which you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first.  If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove  your lampstand from its place.

Revelation 2:4-5

I came across this scene Friday evening in Baltimore, and it made me think Church Doorabout these verses… I don’t even know which church this is, so my thinking had nothing to do with this particular church or its congregation; but it seems like something that all of us should consider and be reminded of.

Have we forsaken our first love?  Have we grown too comfortable?

How easy it is for any one of us, or indeed an entire congregation to slip into an easy path, one that is regular and seemingly “normal” and eventually come to realize that the path we are following is not the path that puts Jesus first and foremost in our lives, in our thoughts and in our deeds.  How easy it can be to just sort of drift along through life and never quite realize the potential that God has given us for the benefit of His Kingdom!

Maybe all of us should consider these things from time to time… I know that I should.  May each of us remain in His path, serving Him and doing His will and not our own, for the glory of God and the building up of His Kingdom!

It’s amazing how God can speak to us in simple scenes.
