Boy oh boy… I’ve been listening to the news again today, why do i continue to do this to myself?

What really happened in Libya?  Why are California’s employment stats not in the unemployment report this week? What really happened in “Fast and Furious?”  They hit for A-Rod?  (OK, maybe I get that last one)

Why won’t they just tell us what happened in these things; what’s the big deal?  It sometimes seems that nobody will just stand up and tell it like it is.  Can anybody stand tall any more?

The truth is that there are lots of folks who stand tall.  There are plenty of people who will tell it like it is.  They might not be on TV or in the news, but they are out there.  Usually they aren’t in power since that always seems to involve an awful lot of compromises.  Maybe they aren’t TV commentators for the same reasons, but they are in the neighborhood, in churches and at the mall, for they are ‘regular’ people.  They are people who are good, solid types who have personal integrity.  Most likely they are just the guy next door.

Nations are built by these people, and so are neighborhoods and families; they are the people who make the country work in spite of the best efforts of the experts.

You know what?  I have an idea!

Maybe if enough of the rest of us decided to stand tall and tell it like it is, things would work even better.  What would happen if we just decided that from now on we would all tell the truth, be responsible, act with ethics and personal integrity and expect the same from everybody else? I might be worth a try!
