In yesterday’s post I made the assertion that if we set our minds on that which is above, we can find inspiration where ever we look.  Long experience tells me that when I make statements like that, a significant percentage of those who hear or read them roll their eyes and say things like, “Well, Don that’s easy for you to say, but…”

…There is no but, of that I can assure you!

I’m not sure what prompted me to take this picture a couple of weeks ago, but I did take it and I’m glad I did.  It’s a very simple picture of the side of my house looking up at second and third story windows; who even looks up like this?  OK, you might ask, did I take any good pictures?

Not os fast, take a closer look…

Notice the artistic details that the architect and craftsmen put into the side of this house back in 1895. See the ‘gingerbread’ and scroll work, did you notice the little things (no idea what to call them) they added to the eaves for no other reason than to add an artistic touch? Isn’t it amazing how creative people can be; the talent and imagination that God has given us? Human beings are awesome in their creation and their creativity, no wonder the Bible says that God created us in His image… He has put something of himself into Man!

Do you ever notice metaphors?  If so, you have already thought that clouds floating above a work of ingenuity and craftsmanship created by the hands of Men are kind of symbolic of how all that we do as an expression of God’s own image and creation is under His heavenly gaze and supervision.

Now look, I am no genius and no “spiritual giant” I am just a servant of our Lord Jesus Christ who can’t see very much.  If I can see this picture and see the inspiration that it has for any Christian who wants to take a minute and look for it, so can anybody else!

Conclusion:  If we set our minds on the things that are above, we can find inspiration where ever we look!
