Being Inspired

Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, in the mountain of his holiness.

Beautiful for situation, the joy of the whole earth, is mount Zion, on the sides of the north, the city of the great King.

(Psalm 48:1-2 KJV)

Many things can be inspiring; songs, pictures, views or scenes in Nature, Bible verses, speeches, movies, personal testimonies…

These things can inspire us in various way, sometimes to greatness and sometimes to evil.

Most people seek inspiration, but they seldom find it; yet when they do it can really be significant to them.  Hopefully we go to positive places for inspiration!

For me, the verses above are inspiring, maybe not for their deep theological meaning but for the visual that they put in my mind… try to picture what they describe.  Our Great King, His Holy mountain, the joy of the whole world, great praise…

Maybe what I am seeing is more like a vision of heaven that the author originally intended all those centuries ago; a vision of heaven is a powerful concept.  With a vision of heaven in our mind’s eye, a vision of the glory and greatness of God, His people giving Him praise and joy flowing forth from the scene…  This is the kind of inspiration that we don’t need to look high and low to find, for it dwells within us in the Person of the Holy Spirit!

What are you inspired to do in response to a vision like that?
