What Will Our Legacy Be?

As we go through our daily lives, we usually aren’t thinking about our legacies, more likely we’re just trying to get through the day.  Some people are more driven than that of course, and if you are one of those people you might be thinking about closing the big deal, making a lot of money or scoring a triple double. Do any of these things really matter all that much?  Are any of these things so important to you that they are what you want to be remembered for after you’re gone?

Probably not.

Usually this is where the writer inserts the necessity to consider the important things in life: family, friends, helping others and the like.  Without taking anything away from these kinds of things, I’d like to take a slightly different path here, after all the title of this post is in the plural not the singular.  What will our legacy be?

As followers of Christ with a commission to build His Kingdom; are we building a godly legacy of faithfulness by what we are doing to build His Church?  Will anyone in our local churches remember us twenty years after we die?  Will our service to the Lord be memorable for anything beyond just getting by?  Are we changing lives, including our own?

This week, let’s all consider these questions; may we all find a ministry that really makes a difference for Christ in this world and in our local family of believers, and may we never settle for just getting by!
