Everybody like to have fun!
Most everyone likes a party!
Parties are supposed to be a time of happiness and joy with friends, family and loved ones. Sometimes people sing out with joy and laughter; it’s a time to “let your hair down” and have some good old-fashioned fun.
Parties have food and goodies; some parties have fancy cakes… yum!
Most people don’t approach worship the way they think of a party; I think that’s sad. Don’t get me wrong, I understand about reverence and orderly worship, and maybe a party isn’t the perfect comparison. But as for the simple act of expressing joy the comparison holds pretty strongly.
Do you truly believe that as a Christian you are one of the Lord’s redeemed?
If you answer yes, how can you not be filled with joy, thanksgiving and praise? The Bible offers quite a bit of direction in this, here’s just one short passage…
Come, let us sing for joy to the LORD;
let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation.
Let us come before him with thanksgiving
and extol him with music and song.
(Psalm 95:1-2)
This week in worship, let’s lift our voices with joy in singing God’s praise, with thanksgiving in our hearts let’s offer up praise as a sweet sacrifice that is wholly pleasing to God! Praising God, filled with joy, surrounded by family and friends… worship is the best party ever.
