“The perverse of heart shall be far from me;
   I will have nothing to do with what is evil.

 Whoever slanders their neighbor in secret,
   I will put to silence;
whoever has haughty eyes and a proud heart,
   I will not tolerate.”

(Psalm 101:4-5)

These two verses continue Psalm 101 which we have been looking at the past two days, and they are not politically correct: Yikes, it’s judgmental and intolerant!

God’s followers are not to tolerate evil, even if our culture says you must.  God’s followers must be discerning; they must be willing to take a stand.

Most importantly, God’s followers must not participate in evil, slander and haughtiness, for they are offensive to God.  Of course, this is not to say that we should go out of our way to start a fight; that’s not the way to demonstrate God’s love.  But as the radio ad says, “Think of the power of one voice.”

We must not fear the condemnation of those with loud voices, we must not fear the mob; rather we must remember who’s disciple we are and be an Ambassador of the Gospel.  This means that we neither tolerate nor participate in evil, that we are patient, loving and willing to share a better way of life through action and deed, and not just by being shrill. This we will see more about tomorrow.
