Peace Now!

“Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called children of God.”

(Matthew 5:9)

Everybody can figure out what a peacemaker is… but what is someone who is not a peacemaker?

They could be a lot of things, here are a few ideas:  This could be someone who can’t stand to lose an argument; somebody who always needs to be right, even when they’re wrong.  It could also be someone who loves to stir the pot and create controversy for other people.  And, it could be a person who is always spoiling for a fight…

You may, no doubt, have other ideas to add to my little list, so let’s do a little exercise: ask yourself what the quality of life is for a person who does these things (always right, stirs the pot, spoils for a fight, and whatever else you’ve come up with). Are these happy people?  Are people who do these things living a low stress lifestyle?  Are such folks more likely to have stress-related illnesses as time goes on?  Can people like this ever relax?

Wouldn’t it be a better lifestyle to follow the Prince of Peace than it would be to follow trouble and stress?  I don’t know about you, but I’d rather let others be, and follow the Prince of Peace.
